Wonderla Chennai, an amusement park opening on 2nd December 2025, spans 64.30 acres with 43 rides and cultural dining. It aims to boost local tourism and sustainability.
Wonderla Holidays has unveiled its latest venture, Wonderla Chennai, a significant addition to India's amusement park scene. Situated along Chennai's Old Mahabalipur Road, this park spans 64.30 acres, with 37 acres currently developed. With an investment exceeding INR 611 crores, it combines futuristic elements with Tamil architectural influences. The grand opening is set for 1st December 2025, officiated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.
The park will welcome visitors starting 2nd December 2025. Wonderla Chennai boasts 43 rides across various categories, accommodating up to 6,500 guests daily. Ticket prices begin at ₹1,489, with discounts available for online bookings and college students presenting valid IDs. Additional offers cater to groups and seasonal visitors.

Innovative Rides and Attractions
Among the standout attractions is Tanjora, India's largest Bolliger & Mabillard Inverted Coaster. This Swiss-engineered ride features multiple inversions and zero-G rolls. Spin Mill stands as India's tallest spinning thrill ride at 50 meters, offering vertical loops and multi-axis motion. Sky Rail provides a scenic monorail experience with Viking-inspired gondolas.
Arun K Chittilappilly expressed pride in the project: "Wonderla Chennai is the culmination of a decade-long dream... We've created what we believe is India's most advanced and immersive amusement park." He emphasised the park's reflection of Tamil Nadu's culture and creativity.
Cultural Design and Dining Experiences
Wonderla Chennai's design takes inspiration from Tamil Nadu's heritage while incorporating modern elements. Visitors journey through stone-carved avenues to futuristic zones. The park prioritises climate-responsive features like shaded areas and natural ventilation using locally sourced materials.
The culinary offerings celebrate Tamil Nadu's diverse cuisine through eight themed dining venues serving regional dishes like Dindigul biryani and Chettinad chicken alongside international favourites. The "Make-Ready-Discard" philosophy ensures freshness in every dish served.
Retail and Guest Facilities
The retail experience extends beyond souvenirs, featuring merchandise inspired by Tamil cinema and local crafts like Thanjavur dolls. Additional facilities include spacious changing rooms, first-aid stations, a conference hall for 1,500 people, and an open-air event space for gatherings.
Dheeran Choudhary highlighted Wonderla's commitment to safety and innovation: "We are proud to continue Wonderla's legacy... Beyond rides... we want Wonderla Chennai to become a destination for celebration." The park aims to be a hub for festivals and community events.
Economic Impact and Sustainability
The project is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs, supporting local tourism and livelihoods. Facilitated by Tamil Nadu's Industrial Guidance & Export Promotion Bureau, it underscores the state's dedication to tourism infrastructure.
Sustainability initiatives include a rainwater harvesting tank with a capacity of 3.75 crore litres and plans for a solar power installation in Phase 2. The park also maintains green spaces with over 1,000 indigenous trees.
