Link Aadhar to LPG

The Indian government is providing subsidy on domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for all the households across India. To receive the LPG subsidy one has to link their Aadhaar card to the LPG gas connection as the subsidy amount will be directly credited to one's bank account.

In the first step, the bank account has to be first linked to Aadhar number after which one has to provide a photocopy of Aadhar card to the respective gas agency dealer to link it to the consumer number or LPG gas connection.

Currently, there are three prominent LPG suppliers in the country, namely – Bharat Gas, Indane Gas and HP Gas. The prices of LPG in India is decided based on crude prices in the international market added with the currency exchange rate. With an intention to help the common man to afford the LPG cylinders, the central government is providing subsidy on domestic cylinders (up to 12 cylinders per year). Linking Aadhaar with LPG for PAHAL

Today’s generation is so much dependent on the LPG in its everyday life that it becomes difficult to imagine life without LPG. LPG is majorly used in the domestic household to cook food, boil water or for heating food items.

LPG Prices in India is based on the crude prices in the international markets. The continuous rise in its prices has taken a toll on the budget of most of the domestic households in India as most of the families in India are unable to afford the gas connection. Adding further problem to it is the fact that the government of India subsidizes the LPG. All the upper class and some of the middle-class section in the society can afford the non-subsidized LPG prices despite this they opt to get a subsidy from the government which is usually meant for the much needed financially weaker families.

The government of India has come up with a scheme to provide subsidy for LPG purchase. As per this existing scheme, households have to pay the full prices of the LPG cylinder at the time of delivery and the government of India will directly credit the subsidy amount as cash transfer to their account and this scheme is referred to as PAHAL. On the other hand, it has started a campaign ‘Give up Subsidy’ and has asked all the households to give up subsidy if they can buy gas without subsidy amount and hence pay the full price of the LPG cylinder.

Under the scheme – PAHAL, to ensure that right people are receiving the subsidy amount and to check the fraudulent activities, the holders of LPG gas connection should link their respective bank accounts with LPG connection number and Aadhaar number and the procedure can be done both online and offline mode.

The offering of subsidy is also an initiative to encourage the rural population in the country to use LPG extensively and ditch the age-old method of using firewood to cook the food.
