The introduction of Aadhaar has come in handy for the government of India to streamline an array of welfare activities which are focused towards the poor and needy section of the society. Aadhaar as a platform offers a unique and distinct opportunity for the government to ensure transparency and good governance when it comes to curbing leakages and ensures that services are delivered to the intended beneficiaries only. With the help of Aadhar card, the central and the respective state government is able to pass on subsidized food and kerosene delivery to the Public Distribution System beneficiaries. There are many Aadhaar Enrollment Centers in Kolkata, to know the exact location of these centres one can visit the UIDAI web portal.

The UIDAI has started the first Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Delhi and Vijayawada. It plans to set up 114 such centres across India by the year-end. These Aadhaar Seva Kendras are meant to facilitate enrollment, updation and other activities related to Aadhaar Card. These centres will be owned by UIDAI and will operate in addition to the existing enrollment centres which are currently operational at various banks, government offices and post offices across the country.
The UIDAI is setting up Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) in line with the concept of Passport Seva Kendras and intends to cover over 53 cities across India with an estimated project cost ranging between Rs 300 – Rs 400 crore.
At the moment, the new centres are functioning on a pilot basis. The Delhi centre is located at Akshardham Metro Station premises and can handle close to 1000 enrollment or updation requests per day. It has 16 work stations and will be operational in six days in a week which also includes weekends. The Aadhar Seva Kendra in Delhi will remain closed on Tuesday and public holidays only.
It will remain open between 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The other one located in Vijayawada is half of that of the Delhi centre. It is located in the Labbipet area opposite to the municipal water tank. The centre can handle up to 500 requests per day and is operational on all the 7 days in a week between 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The main advantage of an Aadhar Seva Kendra is the model comes up with an online appointment management system which allows individuals to book a slot as per their convenience.

In addition to this, the Indian government has instructed many banks and post offices across India to provide the same services as the Aadhaar card enrollment centres.

The I-T department has made Aadhaar compulsory for filing income tax returns (ITR) and for obtaining a new permanent account number (PAN). The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued a statement stating All those who have been assigned a permanent account number and who has an Aadhaar number or is eligible to obtain the Aadhaar number, must communicate their Aadhaar number to the tax authorities to link PAN with Aadhaar.
While Aadhaar is a biometric authentication issued by the UIDAI, PAN is a 10-digit alphanumeric number assigned by the I-T department to individuals and entities.
The I-T e-filing team also sent emails urging people to link Aadhaar to PAN without delay. However, the linking of Aadhaar with PAN becomes mandatory and there is no deadline also.

Aadhaar is a 12-digit, unique identification number provided on behalf of the Government of India by India's Unique Identification Authority. The Aadhaar Number can serve as proof of identification and address across India. You can receive Aadhaar letter by post or else you can also download the e-Aadhaar from the UIDAI portal. Kids & children over the age of 1 year can apply for an AADHAAR Card. Biometrics details of kids, such as fingerprints, tend to change regularly up to the age of 5. Thus for children under the age of 5, no biometric data is required. The AADHAAR card is linked to their guardian/parents for children under 5 years of age.
The Biometric details are collected and linked to his / her AADHAAR card when the child reaches 5 years old. When the child reaches 15 years of age, his / her final biometric data is again (for the last time) collected and linked to the AADHAAR. Proof of Date of Birth certificate is mandated for kids. Any parents who have applied for an AADHAAR card can apply the AADHAAR card for their children. For that parents have to submit Proof of Identity and Proof of Address at the time of applying for Aadhaar Card. Unique Aadhaar is mandated for all individuals across India and is valid for lifetime. Aadhaar number is required for all the complete any services or buying any products. Nowadays Aadhaar is also required by schools and Institutions too, therefore it is recommended for children or kids to carry or apply for an Aadhaar Card.
