The Aadhaar Enrollment Process requires the use of Biometric devices and these are used for capturing biometric data inputs such as fingerprint or iris or both of them from the aadhar number holders. These biometric devices are fall under two categories namely integrated devices and discrete devices. Discrete devices refers to the biometric devices such as fingerprint or IRIS which requires the connectivity to a host device such as a personal computer or Micro ATM or laptop and so on. In case of registered devices, they will be registered with Aadhaar system for encryption key management. Only an aadhaar authentication server can individually identify and validate the devices and manage their encryption keys on each of the registered devices. To know more about the locations of aadhaar enrollment centers in Chennai one can visit the official web page of UIDAI.

Many people across the country are concerned about the safety of their aadhaar data and hence UIDAI has come out with this Virtual ID. Thus aadhar details will be kept safe from agencies and from being hacked.
The holders of aadhar card can generate virtual ID and can use it to authenticate for a service. Once the authentication process is complete, the applicant can regenerate his virtual ID so that the details with the agency if they have saved are rendered useless.

The UIDAI has started the first Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Delhi and Vijayawada. It plans to set up 114 such centres across India by the year-end. These Aadhaar Seva Kendras are meant to facilitate enrollment, updation and other activities related to Aadhaar Card. These centres will be owned by UIDAI and will operate in addition to the existing enrollment centres which are currently operational at various banks, government offices and post offices across the country.
The UIDAI is setting up Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASKs) in line with the concept of Passport Seva Kendras and intends to cover over 53 cities across India with an estimated project cost ranging between Rs 300 – Rs 400 crore.
At the moment, the new centres are functioning on a pilot basis. The Delhi centre is located at Akshardham Metro Station premises and can handle close to 1000 enrollment or updation requests per day. It has 16 work stations and will be operational in six days in a week which also includes weekends. The Aadhar Seva Kendra in Delhi will remain closed on Tuesday and public holidays only. It will remain open between 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
The other one located in Vijayawada is half of that of the Delhi centre. It is located in the Labbipet area opposite to the municipal water tank. The centre can handle up to 500 requests per day and is operational on all the 7 days in a week between 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.

It not only contains demographic details but also contains the biometric data of the cardholder, which makes it very difficult to falsify. Aadhaar's issuing authority, UIDAI, has made arrangements to include all residents living in India under this scheme, regardless of their age. The Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI) has set many Aadhaar enrollment cities in India including Chennai.
If you do not have Aadhaar or not applied yet you must visit Aadhaar enrollment centre to avail it. You will get acknowledgement slip which consists UID number after completion of your Aadhaar application submission in Aadhaar enrollment centre. The UID number will be useful to track the status of your application form. If you lost your UID number you can retrieve it through online based on your registered mobile number.

Main uses of Aadhaar card:
1. Identity Card
2. Ease of Availability
3. Availing Government Subsidies
4. Availing Passport
5. Opening Bank Account
6. Provident Fund Disbursement
7. Digital life certificate
The Aadhar card can be used as proof of identity(POI), proof of address(POA) as well as proof of age when requesting any government service. Aadhaar can be used for all government-related services and programs. To avail aadhaar card you must visit any nearest aadhaar enrollment centre in Chennai. Make sure that the Aadhaar enrollment centre must be permanent. Because of the Unique Identification Authority of India has removed temporary Aadhaar enrollment centres due to some issues. The Aadhaar card was not created with a specific use in mind. Instead, it can be used for multiple purposes, making it a universally acceptable government-issued card, without the need to register or request a separate card for each of these services.
The Aadhar card is the only document issued by the government of India that is available everywhere. An Aadhaar card can be requested online. Known as e-Aadhar, it is a downloadable version of the physical copy of Aadhar and can be accessed anytime, anywhere. It is therefore convenient for individuals to always have a copy of a valid government-issued identity document which is also readily available.
It also reduces the risk of theft/misplacement of an original document, as the Aadhaar can be downloaded to any device and displayed when individuals needed.
One of the most important uses of the Aadhar card is that it allows the cardholder to benefit from all the government grants to which he/she is entitled. Since the government already has all the necessary data on a specific person, it suffices to produce its Aadhaar card to benefit from various grants or programs. So far, the government has put in place systems by which Aadhar can be linked to a bank account and an LPG connection so that individuals can receive their LPG subsidy directly into their bank accounts. It also cancels the possibility that funds may be misappropriated or that people may make fraudulent claims to claim benefits.
Availing a passport can be a daunting task as it is time-consuming. Obtaining a passport includes fixing an appointment with the authorities, processing your request, sending the passport and verifying police checks. It usually takes several weeks to complete all the processes and apply for a passport, but thanks to the increased use of an Aadhar card, the process of obtaining a passport can now be speeded up. Persons wishing to obtain a passport can apply for it online by simply enclosing their Aadhaar card as the only proof of residence and identity with their application.
Aadhaar cards can be useful when opening a bank account. The Aadhaar document can be used for KYC(Know Your Customer) identification and verification purposes. Financial institutions and banks consider Aadhaar cards to be valid as proof of address(POA) and proof of identity(POI) when opening a bank account.
The Aadhaar card guarantees that the provident fund is paid directly into the pensioner's account.
The retiree simply has to link the card to their pension account. This saves time and effort.
The Jeevan Pramaan for Pensioners or the digital life certificate, as it is also called, was launched by Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India. The purpose of the certificate was to remove the need for the pensioner to be physically present to receive a pension for the continuation of his plan. Retirees can now benefit from the pension without having to leave their home because their contact details are accessible digitally by the agency via their Aadhar card numbers.
Linking Aadhaar with your cell phone number has been made mandatory by the government of India following the order passed by the Supreme Court. This step is taken to eliminate the connections made on false documents. Mobile number re-verification with your Aadhaar is free and is done in seconds. There are two methods to recheck mobile numbers with Aadhaar. Follow the steps to associate Aadhaar with online and offline mobile number:
Telecommunications operators have used a few methods to supplement the Aadhaar and SIM link. The methods included verification via OTP (One Time Password), Agent Assisted Authentication and IVR function. In addition, individuals can also choose to visit mobile stores to register their biometric data and complete the linking process.
Those who have already linked their mobile numbers to the Aadhar card can verify it again via OTP and people who have not yet linked their mobile number to the Aadhaar card will have to go through an offline process and visit any Aadhaar enrollment centre.
Users who wanted a new SIM card had to go to the nearest store of their mobile operators like Vodafone, Idea, etc.
to get a new SIM card with Aadhar. Here are the steps to complete this process.
Step 1: Visit the retail mobile operator store which is near you.
Step 2: Request a new SIM card
Step 3: Provide a physical copy of Aadhar card for proof of identity(POI) and proof of address(POA).
Step 4: Use the biometric scanner to scan the fingerprint and verify Aadhar.
Step 5: A new SIM card would be issued after the completion of the verification process.
Step 6: The SIM card would be activated in about an hour.
The OTP method has been used to verify mobile phone numbers online and offline. In both methods, subscribers would receive an OTP on the registered mobile number. Both methods are mentioned below.
1.Online method:
Using this method, subscribers could complete the bonding process while sitting in the comfort of home. Below is the step-by-step procedure for linking:
Step 1: Visit the telecom operator's website
Step 2: Enter the mobile number to associate, verify or recheck with Aadhaar.
Step 3: The One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the registered mobile number.
Step 4: Enter OTP and click Submit to continue
Step 5: A certain message will be displayed on the screen. The 12-digit Aadhaar number to associate had to be entered.
Step 6: A message would then be sent by the telecom operator for the OTP generation.
Step 7: The user would then receive a consent message regarding e-KYC details.
Step 8: User had to agree to all terms and conditions and enter the OTP
Step 9: After this is done, a confirmation message about re-checking Aadhaar and phone number has been sent.
